Don't you feel sorry for me?
Mt. Redoubt Mountain Lodge is so abs beautiful!
And we caught tons of fish like this and bigger!
This is a lake trout:

I'll post a bunch of pics, but I love flying in a float plane! It is so gorgeous, although the trip home was a bit interesting. You know when the pilots face grows pale that you should not be at ease, but these guys know what they are doing.
Here is a pic from the air, gowing through the mountains that you can reach out and touch!

I'll post a bunch of others on my web page, but later.... I have so much to do!
OK, One more!

I'm home! YAY!

Yes, Kim took great care of me, but darnit anyway, I wasn't there but one night.
She fed me ribs! YUM!
She helped me greatly, though, with phone calls, since the phone I was on was a satelite phone and very expensive. She helped me communicate with everyone that I needed to.
Clam Gulch Lodge is beautiful, and Kim is a gem!! She can catch fish too!

Jen,
You have to go there to really know what it's like, don't you.

Now your problem will be figuring out how to get back. Get an Alaska airlines visa card. By everything on the card, just pay it off at the end of the month (no exceptions). I even charge $2.00 items, I don;t care what kind of looks I get, I want the miles. free ticket every 18-24 months. DO IT.......... If you do it right you can go for a week, w/ air miles, no guides, 1-2 fly out trips, 1 halibut, few days boat rentals and come in at under 800 - 1000 total/ with a rental car.... not too bad.........I am glad that you had a wonderful time, it could not have happened to a nicer person..........Steve

Nice pics Jen. Beautiful! Glad you had a good time. And you will always hear "the call of the north" from now on. ...

Hey Bill, have you ever seen Chris's hands look so big in a fish pic before? images/icons/wink.gif And where is the pic of the big salmon Kim caught? And did Chris show you some of the trophy Skelak Lake 'bows? Awesome area, aye!

Jennie, Glad to hear you had a great time. We did too. Ev caught two halibut a 70 and a 44 and the processor gave us 85lbs of filets to take home. No mistake just had some extra and threw it in. I had a relaxing trip on the Kenai with Rod Berg. Great guy, hard working guide but once again the fish won. He had gone two days without a fish in the boat. At 5 minutes to 6 quitting time one of his clients hooked a 10 pounder. A disappointment to say the least but I gave Rod a high five and complimented him on the job he does. His expression was worth the price of the trip. Not every great trip results in big fish, as we all know. Got to see the Peninsula through our Maryland friend's eyes and saw a whole new perspective. Every little thing we took for granted for six years up there was AAAHHHsome for them. Norman Lowell's Art Gallery, Dean Osmar's sled dog ranch, and set net site. Homer's scenery, moose cows and their babies, Mountain goats, even the chicken Halibut were monsters compared to what they see on the Chesapeake Bay. Sleeping in on down comforters and waking up to hot coffee and bacon and eggs, quiche and blueberry pancakes at B & B's that looked like art museums. Wow!! Glad to get back though and settle into normal life again. Yes Alaska, we will be back. images/icons/cool.gif images/icons/cool.gif images/icons/cool.gif

Kim has the pic of the salmon, and I am trying to get her to send it to me.
My camera batteries went out images/icons/frown.gif
It was beautiful, and may be over the 54 that we thought!

Jen glad you had a good time up in bear country. Since I don't see you with a big King picture I insist you go back until you remedy this situation. Think I can fit in your luggage? images/icons/rolleyes.gif images/icons/grin.gif

Greetings, Jen got your email and can't figure out how to forward the pictures. Just talked with Chris tonight and he landed a 78# king today on the Kenai!!!!!! That ain't not ****!!!! We are headed out in the a.m. to take my drift boat Rocky out of the Kenai. I am tagged out and I think I will drown myself if I get a bigger one than the 54# (btw-everyone else who saw my fish thought it was more like 58-60#)!! Chris may come back to the lodge with me and try to send you some pictures, mine will now be the little one....

The Kenai is HOT!!!! Tight lines and I will update you tomorrow. Kim

Jen, Did Kim take good care of you at the B&B? If you didn't put on five pounds, she starved you. She is a nice lady.

Jen, forgot your cell phone # and couldn't get online. It sucked up there this year. I finally boated a 45# 2 hours before I had to leave. There river was high but the visability was good, then the rain came and raised it more and the clouded the river up. Then they had the "EO's" Emergency Openings for comm. nets. It seems like no matter where you go you can't get away from the nets.

Hey Doug (FH5), nothing is guaranteed in fishing - even in AK. Geez, aren't Kid Sauk and Parker fishing the Kasilof with Bob this week? Fishing is timing, timing, timing - like real estate is location, location, location; or something like that. But AK and NW B.C. have much more to enjoy than fish!

Yeah, we take off on Tuesday evening. Yup, it's all about timing. We'll have a hard go at it if the commercial boys are ****** the oceans. If they back off a bit and follow a routine schedule, we'll be ok. If they are netting 2-3 days in a row, we could be up..well, you know what creek with no paddle!. Looks like there will be plenty of reds for us to play with and the rainbows should be ripe for the picking...er catching and releasing, anyways!

We get back on Sunday. Once I get my pics uploaded, I'll send out a trip report.

Heading North!

Hi Jen,

Looks like you had an awesome experience. I can't wait to get back up there and I'm sure you want to spend more time there too. There is so much to see up there. Show us more pictures images/icons/smile.gif
