Just got back from a nice evening of trout fishing up on Mt. Hood. They are not that big (a 10" fish is a dandy, most average 6-8"), but there are some beautiful native cutthroats that make great catch and release fly-fishing in headwater streams coming off Mt. Hood. Find a stream, bush-whack your way in and enjoy. Humpy's and royal coachman's work well.

About 5 years ago I spend a day searching for cutt's in the headwaters of the Clack. Bushwacking etc. No luck we didn't see one fish. We were on the branch that comes down sort of north of Mt. Jefferson. Could you say what drainage you were in?

Bugleman, I was in the Sandy River drainage, though I have also had success in the Clackamas drainage but have not fished where you tried. I am not completely up as far as the actual headwaters and un-named tribs, but am high up in the drainage.
