Well, ya gotta go when you get the chance. Went out to the jaws in Nehalem on Friday in search of an early nookie. Instead it was an exercise in the gentle water release of 5 finclipped coho, representatives a large number of cohos in the area.
One funny note. Three times when I was putting my herring in to check roll, a coho would come from below and bite it at the surface right next to the boat. I have to admit that being nookless on the trip, I would have liked to take home a finclip or two.
Fun day nonetheless. Four keeper crabs, but engine started acting up as the tide switched to outgoing, so back to the safety of land.
