that on the Powder River arm of Brownlee Res. there are floating cabins available on a first come first serve basis. They supposably were built by private citizens just before they damned the Snake. Supposably some of them are open to the public free of charge. Has anyone else heard anything like this? I'm headed over there this coming week.

I wish I knew more about this, But I have friends who use old cabins in that area yearly. I'm not sure if they're floating cabins, and from the photos I've seen they're almost ramshackle, and also in demand due to the free price. My friends often end up camping on the shore of the lake and apparently are not bothered by anybody about it.......

Most, if not all the cabins are locked and have posted signs on them. Some are in a sad state and some are kept up. Nicest ones are in the main lake, on the Idaho side just north of the Powder River.
I work weekends so during the week there is usually no one is around. I just tie up and sleep on the boat. Some of the signs state that its O.K. to visit and use the dock. I don't think they mind tying up as long as you respect the property.

Just had contact with Phil.
His response:
The docks are private property under lease agreement with Idaho Power Co.

Yeah, Phil isn't so much terse as he is succinct. images/icons/grin.gif

I accesed his website, where all of the navigation buttons are designed with a styiish red 'X'.

When I clicked on Fishing Reports', I found the message, "Please look for an update June 13, 1000 - Phil Simonski", so I guess it's been a little over a thousand years since the site's been updated .... images/icons/wink.gif
