Without a fishfinder it is tough. With one locate the fish and what level they're at. I've had best success with a short 6 to 12" raise of the rod tip and really pay attention to your line and tip on the way down as they will bite on the fall with the jig fluttering down. Wait a few seconds before raising the tip again. Corn is always a good idea. With a treble put it on all three. Scent also helps. Craw/Anise is a personal favorite although vanilla worked well this year. The fun is eperimenting and finding what works. Every day they seem to like something different. Good luck!

You can also use a lure to search for fish.

With a lure like a Kastmaster or a Buzz Bomb, you cast the lure out, and "jig" it back. After casting out, you can vary the depth by letting the lure sink for different "counts" before you start the retrieve. Pay attention to the seconds count, and to the method of jigging, so you replicate the depth and jigging action when you find fish.

I am far from a master jigger....I did learn alot this spring from some guys on the forum.

If you plan to jig, show up with a few different jigs....color and size seamed make a difference from day to day. Pink, in a smaller size was the hot one early in the year....and we did have better luck arming the jigs with corn.

I did Wikiup early August and it was blue.....that got the job done....:smirk:

Good luck !!
