I plan to take my six year old grandson (I might even invite his dad/my son) fishing/camping this weekend. Thinking about one of the following lakes;
East, Crescent, Lava, Gold.
Any recent reports or recommendations?

8/23 Bend Bulletin newspaper reported Lava Lake is still producing some rainbows, it's always worth a try...

You might try Detroit, lotsa room and options. Cooler weekend weather may help with the bite. Thoughts of a campfire have me considering it soon. And ifishers can help get you dialed in here.

Northfor Res is freshly stocked as of right now. Good action for the kid.

To spend some quiet, quality time with three generations of Camels...Gold Lake would be a good choice. Great place to get the youngster into fly fishing at a beautiful serene lake.

I'm not a very skilled flyfisherman, but have had pretty good luck dragging a tied-down yellow caddis right off the bottom there. Lot's of brookies available to fry up in the evening while sharing some good conversation with your family.

Wherever you wind up, have a great time in this beautiful August weather we're enjoying! :cheers:

Thanks for all the input! We ended up going to East Lake. Fishing was not so good, but the time up there was special!
