Too bad you aren't looking to hit the Fall Chinook run on the Nehalem. That's about prime time and only a few minutes from Rockaway.

I think it might depend alot on the rain situation. If it rains a lot and then clears, youll be "in like flint!" Any of the bigger rivers should be great.
Good luck:yay:

Right on the mark. If we get rain, the rivers will cool down and fresh fish will move in. Consider the Kilchis near tidewater for cuts. Coho should be moving into the Trask. The Nehalem should be hot for both Chinook and Cuts.
Lots of places to fish with the right weather.

Come for the Cutts but bring a rod that can handle chinooks too.

In mid September the summer steelhead on the Wilson will be prime for fly fishing. By then the water is cooler and the crowds have dispersed. I know of one stretch where the water is 2-3 feet deep and fish are holding waiting for the big push of rain before they move on. If you would like more detailed information drop me a PM.

I have great memories of blue backs on the Trask. Lost most of em, but what a fighter they are!
I would wade drifting a parachute with a small scud about 30 to 40ft down stream. Didn't cast much, just kinda fed out line in the eddies.
Dang it, I'm going to have to make a trip back!
Good Luck!
