I want to put a swim ladder on the O/S bracket of my Seahawk. I saw one on a Seahawk that looked pretty neat. Before I could ask where it came from the guy left.

It folded over the bracket and layed flat when it wasn't being used.

It was a tube about 3' long with a couple 5-6" tube steps welded on opposite sides.

Is it something that North River makes?

im in the market for a new seahawk and have been spending too much time at portland performance marine.

Yes, northriver makes it. $125 option I WAS TOLD. Pricey, but when the boat your looking at is 40K, i guess its a drop in the bucket.:smirk:

Yep a NR option. Very handy when your boat is on the trailer, make it easy to get in and out. Well worth the $:twocents:

Check on it $179.00 bolts to the bottom of the offshore bracket.
Got it on the list also.

Also handy if fishing alone, and you find yourself suddenly in the water.....

With high gunnels on our aluminum boats, how would you get back in the boat without one? Especially if you're not in "competitive swimmer's" shape (meaning overweight) ??

Well worth the cost...... Mine was installed on my Alumaweld one year after I bought it. It's a MUST HAVE, and a safety issue..... :twocents:

I'm definatly in the fat category, but I can get back into my Seahawk from the water.

I step on the support tube for the bracket and grab the rail at the back of the boat. I just pull myself up.

Its the smaller folks (not as strong) that have a problem getting in. For now,I just have them turn and face away from the boat. I grab their life jacket and hoist them onto the bracket.

A swim step will make my life alot easier though.

I put a telescoping 3 step SS boarding ladder on mine. In fact the whole boat is for sale you could buy it and it is already installed . I bought mine on ebay from West Marine they close things out now and then and sell them cheap on the net.

I'm want to put a swim ladder on my NR Offshore bracket as well, but I don't really like North River's ladder. Does anyone here know where I might find one like on the Weldcraft in the attached picture?

The weldcraft looks like a custom factory job.

How about these: http://www.garelick.com/prodcat.php?subid=AB05 .

The folding and telescoping ones can be had at boatfix dot com from $105 - $155 depending on # of rungs and type.

I'm not too worried about the square tube.

I do hope to find something that is aluminum and that looks like it belongs there.

Mine was done by Motion Marine. Very simular to the one pictured (but they mounted it off the back of the O/S rather then the side). My ladder is a bit longer with 3 rungs, but folds in half, then folds up & locks when underway, so when stowed might be same or smaller than the one pictured. It works great and the extra length makes it very easy to get in/out of the boat both on the water and on the trailer.

Thanks, I like the sound of your ladder Bluto. I'll give Motion Marine a call.

The motion marine ladder is $400. It sounds like they will do a quality job, but that's a lot of money to spend on a swim ladder, so the North River ladder is starting to look more appealing.
