Anybody have any recent East Lake Reports? I'm heading over this weekend to take some young men camping and was wondering how the catching was. I've never fished East lake before so any info on tactics would be helpful as well.

Thanks.

I don't have a report, but will have one next week. Just a side note, a couple of large clubs are headed there this weekend. (60 + each group) Camping sites could be slim pickins at Cinder Hill.

My Wife And I Fished East Lake Monday.
We Have Been Fishing There All Summer And Have Been Doing Very Well.
Yesterday Was A Different Story.
We Were On The Water By 6:30 Am, A Touch Of Breeze But Not Bad.
We Are Used To Throwing Jigs At Them And Doing Very Well. We Only Landed 2 By 9:00 Am And Were Getting Rather Discouraged.but As The Patient Fisherman I Am We Started Switching Gear Until We Found Something That Worked. Guess What. It Was Not In My Tackle Box.
We Decided To Troll. What A Wonderful Boat Ride We Had. We Did End Up Landing 2 More Kokes And A Nice Brown By The Time We Needed To Head Back Home To Bend.
The Kokes Were Average 15 Inches And The Brown We Released Was About 20 Inches.
All In All, East Has Slowed Down From What It Has Been, But Still A Wonderful Place To Spend A Sunny Monday

Good Luck And Tight Lines

Oh crud, the westfly.com event. Looks like I'd better pick a different lake for camping/fishing this weekend. Dang it.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like I may try a different lake.

Hey SS... it must be nice to have a job now where you can actually go fishing in the summer! :jester:

If East Lake campgrounds are going to be full... you might want to consider Lava and Little Lava Lakes. It's kind of tough everywhere during the dog-days of August but these two are usually good for a few trout. You and your group can't hardly go wrong anywhere in the Cascades no matter what. Here's the latest ODFW reports for whatever they're worth:

BIG LAVA LAKE: rainbow trout

Big Lava Lake anglers continue to have fair success on 13 – 16 inch rainbows. Anglers fishing in the early morning or late evening are seeing more success.

LITTLE LAVA LAKE: rainbow trout
A number of anglers are catching limits during the morning hours.

Wherever you wind up, have a great time!
