Where are they? I've fished the Frenchman's Bar area twice this week and couldn't find the fish (well I did find one, but my "pal" took care of it with the net), not shallow, not deep, not in fast water, not in slow. Same story at Camas. I've had one or two solid bumps, but fishing anywhere from 8 feet to 25 I haven't figured out where 3000 fish a day are moving. Where are they? Is the slow, warm water driving them to sturgeon depths? Are they only moving by moonlight?

Ya got me, Pete....but I'm sure gonna have fun finding them. Next mission will focus on deeper water say.....18-30 feet. And that'll be tomorrow. images/icons/grin.gif

Hi Pete,

I have had my success between 19 and 25 feet.
All but one on red x-4's with glitter. The first thing I do is throw the factory hooks away and put on a little bigger "Gami". 24 " leader and 40 to 48" dropper. Add a generous amount of Mikes Sardine gel. 7 fish in 4 trips. I used this same set up at Frenchmans bar as well as down river about 5 miles. It has also done well out of Camas.

No fish for me today. Spent about 6 hours in 19' of water (last year's bread n butter spot). Picked one up two days ago in 26'...thought I was in a bad spot. Maybe 'deeper' is the key for 2001. Water temp. today was already around 65.7 degrees.

******,

It is nice to here that it will get better now. It has already been pretty good! I'll look forward to that!

Thanks!

Bill

P.S. I love your cartoons!

Hey Pete, Look at it this way, you didn't have to clean any and you get to fish longer before you fill your tags. Besides if you and Fishin Mission start catching too many, they will probably open it to all the nets. Good luck. images/icons/tongue.gif

Fished from noon on today about davis bar and below a couple of miles. Got a very nice fish at four pm with too many fins. Ten feet of water and not at anchor. Back out tomorrow to get one with the right amount of fins. images/icons/rolleyes.gif images/icons/rolleyes.gif images/icons/wink.gif

I fished next to hogtide to day. We just made it out for the very end of the tide. Not a touch.

Launched out of Chinook Landing this morning and fished up at Camas. The only fish I saw hooked was on the way to Camas. A boat was netting a nice bright steelhead under the power lines on the Washington side. There was not much flow until about 9am. We fished until 1pm without a touch. Saw lots of salmon rolling and a few going airborne earlier in the morning.

The Coast Guard was out checking buoys today. They were servicing red buoy 46 up at Camas when some jet skiers went blasting between my boat and another boat anchored about 75 feet away. The Coast Guard stopped those jet skiers and gave them a lecture on keeping a 100 foot barrier between them and the boats.

Hit the second half of the tide this afternoon, below the mouth of the Lewis River. My youngest daughter broke in her 'spanky new' fishin' license with a mint bright 12 pounder. Saw about 8 other fish on...it's not hot , yet.

Stats: 12' of water. X-5 flo red Flatfish. Dropper and leader 36" x 36". 2 oz.s

Good Deal hogtide!!
I think she told me she caught it on the starboard side of the boat. I would have been fishing today but I was on my way down Mt. Hood on the way back from hiking. We hiked the Pacific Crest Trail from Barlow pass into Twin Lakes, We fished the lower lake and had no luck. Im planning on trying for some steelhead this weekend. Work tommrow (yuck) images/icons/grin.gif

One 20 pound Chinook and two, too many fins Steelhead. Got to watch Scott and his TV fishing show "live" in the boat next to me.

Hopefully I get to at least see my boat on the river Scott when it airs. images/icons/grin.gif

Yes, the word "starboard" was a big deal to her. Said she's thinking about changing her name to "Star" or something like that.

images/icons/confused.gif If your fishing on the right side of the boat and you aren't having any luck....are you star-BORED?

Hey brshooter, that was my boat next to you on sunday. Too bad the coast guard wasn't there a little earlier when the those two boats went between us on plane! What are these people thinking? Yeah, it was a little slow in 16' of water too. We fished an hour or so after you left, put out the whole tackle box and still no bumps. I was marking fish at 12-14 ft, but the water sure is warm for this early in the summer. I dropped a thermometer over the shady side and and got 63 degrees at the surface.
