I just completed a a 2.5 day drift from Warm Springs to Maupin this past weekend, I was throwing Parachute Adams at night I also tried elk hair cadis and parachute Adams. I tried two nymphs one olive and one emerging fished about 18 inches from each other. I have never been blanked on that river (The only thing that I could blame was the moon (that was like a spot light all night) and my experience)
Any thoughts to you experienced fly-fishers
Thanks in advance

A big bright moon has always been bad news for me on the D. I wouldn't look too much farther for an explanation.

Thanks Two Fister
To make matters worse, my buddy put down his fly rod and started casting his spinning rod with a 'supper-dupper' and proceeded to land and release a 19-20 inch red-side

Gotta hate when that happens! It'll treat you better the next time you're out!
Yes I fished near warm springs on sat. Not even a bump in two hrs and I was trying pretty hard. I think the fish are stuffed.

I was out on Sat. at Mecca and did pretty good before noon concentrating on shaded areas throwing caddis (my own CDC/elk hair variation) and terrestrials. Just look for water that others aren't pounding away on...

Nope. No fishing at night on the Deschutes.
I think it's an hour before and an hour after sunset just like other Oregon fisheries, but I'd have to check the regs to be certain.
