It's always nice to get a little time off during the summer to spend with the famliy. I have been trying to get my kids out to do some fishing. I like to start them off with trout and stuff that is really active to give them the bug big time.

We spent some time out doing bass and panfish to start the summer at a local farm pond

Then it was time to do our annual fishing trip to the McKenzie. I have gone almost every year since I was about 5 years old when my grandparents used to take me. It has been a family trip for years and it is fun to take my kids now to the McKenzie for some summer trout fishing.

My kids really started getting into the fishing this year being a little older.

Here my daughter rips a bobber down hookset into a trout.

Since most of our fishing is done high above the water off a deck on the cabin, where releasing is impossible, most fish are revived in the tub (cold spring water) before being trecked back down to the water.

One of the things my kids enjoy most every year is going to Leaburg dam to feed the steelhead size trout and the ducks.

Here is the post I made of last years trip. Its cool to me to see how much the kids have grown in a year. Heres the old link http://www.ifish.net/board/showthread.php?t=121377

Ok after just getting back from the Togiak river in Alaska see here (http://www.ifish.net/forum/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=1265289&an=0&page=0#1265 289) . I turned right around and took my family on vacation too.

We went to the McKenzie for some trout fishing and good times. I have done this since I was 5 years old first with my grandparents then with my own wife and kids.

The catch and smiles.

My daughter revives one in the tub before we walked them back down to the river for release (this was their favorite part).

We made sure to take a break every day and went down to the Leaburg dam and fish hatchery. They have a pond full of trout and sturgeon.

This is an awesome place to take your kids for a fun afternoon of feeding the fish and ducks.

Then it was back to some more trout fishing, my son with a little hatchery trout.

My daughter gets another. The smile says it all. The fish were all quickly unhooked and given a kiss goodbye then back into the water.
