I'm looking for ideas on storing flashers and dodgers when they are not in use. I normally put them in gallon size ziplocks so they don't get all scratched up. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks, Rich

OK, this may sound weird, but get a large square of cotton flannel. Wrap them dishpack style by folding a layer over the first one, continuing to fold and stack, till you run out of fabric. Then tie it up with twine, or use that gallon size ziplock bag. No scratches! images/icons/smile.gif

You can also wrap them tightly in plastic wrap which helps reduce oxidation. The nickle/silver ones hold their shine well, but brass oxidizes pretty quickly, so cutting off the air supply helps keep them bright ... there just doesn't seem to be any way to bring back the original shine without a bunch of work.

An S.O.S pad works wonders on dodgers images/icons/smile.gif

Spray with WD-40. Slide into an old sock. Comes out like new each time...no scratches or corrosion.

Storing flashers and Dodgers? What's that got to do with feeshin? In L.A. they just store them in cell block C. images/icons/rolleyes.gif ...

Besides, you should be using the 'Fish Flash' instead! ... "Splish splash I was takin a bath, long about Saturday night; ruba a dub got outta the tub, and started riggin my Fish Flash. Sunday morn, popped outta my dorm, until I drank my coffee wasn't sure I was born ... so I slashed down some more so I wouldn't snore, got down to the basin I was ready to roar - I say, splish splash got to trollin' Fish Flash, before you could say bingo I was doin' the dash. oh ya ... I tell ya ... I grabbed my rod a throbbin while Dan's boat was a bobbin, and splish splash I used my Fish Flash, to score the biggest cogger while the boys were usin' dodger, and a cryin' 'bout my logger, while I say Fish Flash, throw out that other trash, get your FF trollin' so I don't be a dolin' - all the fish; ooooh yaaaaa, dum de de do dum ... Sooooooo, I kept usin' Fish Flash while the guys were eatin tatter hash, and their flashers weren't the catchers so they had to be fishhead smashers - forerrrrrr me .... with my Fish Flasssssssh" images/icons/grin.gif ... One of those nights. Sing it 'Fly!

Polish them up, spray some WD like Hogtide suggested, and if you have a vacuum packer, use it to keep the air off. Works great.

Richter,

They actually make a "Flasher Bag" to store them in. It has open mesh so that they can get air and dry if wet. All I do is wash them in soap and water, then store in the fasher bag. This bag is made by XStream Fly Fishing in Tukwila, WA. They are sold in some sporting good stores. I think Sportco in Fife has them. The guy who makes them is a member of the Renton Chapter of Puget Sound Anglers. We were able to show him what we wanted and he now makes them. It holds I think 6 full size Hot Spot flashers in individule sleaves. It is about the size of a small lap top PC when folded up.

RT kind of beat me to it, but I store my flashers in a piece of trenchcoat.

....you stinkin' elitists!!!!An old sock, I said. Just an crumby ol' sock...sure , ya might want to wash it first...but an OLD SOCK works great. images/icons/grin.gif

xstream gear flasher bag...I'm embarrassed for you. Next thing you'll have is a lil' rubber bumper to keep your shiney reels from getting all scratched up. images/icons/rolleyes.gif ...oooops...I already have one of those.

SOS pads scratch the heck out of the flasher.
WD-40 works great if you have the time.I have this polish in a small tube that I use.
Can't think of the name of it.Narrows marine
has the flasher storage container. It's made
out of the sunbrella material like boat tops.
Good luck,

Thanks Everyone for the ideas. I know an old sock is cheaper, but I'm going to have to check out one of those Xstream flasher bags.

Thanks, Rich

Hey, Yesterday I rumaged around and found some old socks and tried them out. Had to cut them down but they work. A little bulkier then I like and very loose. Since my foot is size 16 quad E's, images/icons/cool.gif images/icons/rolleyes.gif , I'll have to try and find some smaller socks.

good idea though,

RT doesn't have any old socks! Support hose is what he was really singing about. Stores his flashers in 'em and puts them over his head to hide his identity. He he he....
