I Fished Paulina on the 4th. I was on the water at daybreak. It was a clear warm and calm morning. It took a while but I finally found some fish along the South shore and pick-up three fish in an hour. I played the lure switching game for several more hours before catching my last two fish for the day. I took one fish on a red Apex, but the other fish were caught with no lure just colored hooks 10 inches behind a dodger with corn. Fishing was slow with only six bites in six hours. I have switched over to using only double hooks. I was using size 4 Gamakatsu in pink or green, or a size 1 with a size 4 trailer to which I had applied yellow fluorescent fabric paint. The fish caught with those hooks were really hooked. There was no way the hook was coming out of those fish. Two of the fish were a good fat 14.5 inchs and the others were between 10.5 and 12”. I caught the bigger fish 50 feet and the others at 40. Talked with a man who was kind enough to help me load my boat, who caught 8 big fish jigging the evening before. I think the bite is turning off soon after the sun hits the water like it did last summer.

How is the Fall River Fishing these days? I haven't been in a while - too many people. Speaking of too many, fished the Metolius yesterday amongst the hordes.

I have not fished it much the past month so don’t really know. I prefer to fish it in the winter when the fish move back in to the shallow water once the Ospreys are gone, and so are the crowds. Last time out a friend and I caught several fish over 14 using nymphs in the deeper water. The crowds are not so bad from what I can tell by the cars park at the hatchery and alone side the road.

Just thought I'd comment since I went to Paulina last weekend...

I'm not a Koke fisherman, but I did catch several Rainbows (even thought I spent most of my time looking for Browns:confused images/icons/smile.gif. If you are a trout fisherman, and you are trying to decide between there or East Lake, I would definately drive the extra couple of miles to the later. I didn't get a chance to go over, but I heard nothing but good reports and saw some little kids' stringer with 2 limits including 2 nice Browns. images/icons/frown.gif
