Does not happen all the time, but last two trips out it would lose the bottom and blink ridiculous numbers like 14 ft when I was in 1000 ft of water. When coming back in, it came to its senses when I hit about 400 ft of water. Anyone seen this one before? Any hints?

I have not yet called Lowrance.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Seen it before. call Lowrance, and see what they offer up.

Were you running the unit on 50Hz or 200Hz? I could see you losing bottom lock while on 200Hz.

I was running 200 Hz. When I lost the bottom I switched to 50 Hz, no joy.

Did you try adjusting your sensitivity?
Was there anything on your transducer? (get a piece of plant life stuck on it?)
I run into that problem if I trim the boat just right at the right (wrong) speed -- I'm guessing there's a problem with the angle of my transducer and the turbulence of the water at that particular speed/water chop/trim that I'm running at. Go faster/slower/change trim and things work great again.

I am having the exact same problem but with the LCX 15 MT. Went to the troubleshooting website at Lowrance and did what it said, basically clean the transducer. Did that, look fine though, have not tried it yet. Doubt it will work at this is a constant issue at those depths. I have emailed my question twice with no response and waited for 15 minutes on hold before I threw up my hands. Talked to a guy at Fishmermans and he suggested maxing out the chart speed and ping speed. I pretty sure I have tried this before and have not tried it sense. Not holding my breath.

After posting my question, I reached around the back side of the head unit and found the plug to the transducer cable was loose :passout:.

Went out today, and the unit seem to work fine. The depth did blink once or twice, but just for a couple of seconds and then back to working. Will cross my fingers this solves the problem.

Check your voltage. If you're not getting at least mid 12's this would cause it to act up. My XCI 16 did this. bought new batteries and it solved the problem.

Voltage look good. I always have the voltage data up on the screen to watch my battery condition (and it agrees with a very good quality digital multimeter). Last trip it did act up again. The bummer part is that when it loses the bottom, I cannot seem to get a good picture of the first 100 feet of water to look for bait, etc.
