Has anyone fished the upper Kenai in September? If so, who with and what was your experience? Any input would be appreciated. I'm looking for rainbow/dolly info primarily but I will take any advice into consideration for a trip.
Thanks,
Eric

Should be good. Try the flesh fly. I've done well with it on rainbows

Well painted 8 or 10mm beads under a very subtle indicator in the fast water will kick out a lot of fish for you. I dont know if the Kenai fish are as picky as some in the Morane or Brooks, but if you keep that indicator going without letting it twitch when you mend, you'll hook a lot of fish. Dont be shy at all about fishing a weightless flesh fly under an indy too. They can be almost as big as you want. Those trout are like pirahanas sometimes.

Painted beads, pegged two inches above a size 8 hook. Run 20 inches of 8 pound leader. At the leader junction place two bb split shot. There are plenty of quility fly shops, and outfitters available, book a day trip or ask for hot colors. Focus on gravel bars, and the seems below islands, also don,t ignore the brackish side channels, there full of silvers. There is limited bank acess, so a boat will greatly aid in your success. The upper Kenai is an awsom fishery!!!
