I need some work done on my Mercury and, without hesitation, called Steven's Marine only to find they could not even look at my motor until August 16. Then there could possibly be waiting for parts time. Yikes!!!!!!!! I really like and trust the crew at Steven's but really do not want to be without my motor during prime fishing time. So I see there are other Mercury service shops in Portland but need reccomendations on who is good and who is not. I have had bad customer service from the shop on Stark at 140 something. How is Staff Jennings or ?
Thanks much:wave:

All I have to say if Stevens is worth the wait. Last year i was in your same situation and went to two other places. And now, all my motor work goes to Steven's. Took twice as long, and had MAJOR issues with Harvey's.

Stevens will do the job right and not give you a line about when it will be ready. If you can't use your boat, see if you can drop it off and give them a chance to get to it early. One thing's for sure - this time of year, they are running full throttle and taking care of things as fast as they can. If it takes two weeks, it'll be frustrating for you to wait, but you'll get top notch work you can rely on when you pick it up.

Personally I do not reccomend the shop on canyon road in Hillsboro ( the one with the rabbit)....I had a very negative experience even though they could get my boat in "right away"....If I couldn't do the work my self, I would wait on Stevens....

I know of only one great Merc shop-Stevens.

There is a long wait for a reason. If they did shoddy work, nobody would wait in line.

I know of several shops that have little or no wait right now. There is a reason for that.

I cannot comment on the service at the Rabbit Shop but I can state that the parts I have purchased from them were cheaper, not sure about their mechanical ability thought?

Guess I could run the 3/5 Nissan. Thanks for your input, very wise. So being a 25 horse two stroke could I pull it off and lay it on it's side to bring in just the motor?

I have a 25 hp 2-stoke and that is what I do. Take it off (120lbs - get help from a friend, save your back) lay it on it's side in the back of a P/U, take it to Stevens.

I had mine in this spring. They took care of it. Runs great now.

I can take just the motor in or so I thought. I called Steven's in Milwaukie today and they (Troy) told me he has no room for my motor in his shop at this time. So I could not even drop it off early in case a time slot opened up. What a bummer. I'm not slammin them. It is a good shop. They are just unable to keep up with the service end of things. Atleast it is not a new motor needing warranty work. That would really be a hard lesson.
