I was on Crane last weekend, the Cultus channel, and while I seemed to be surrounded by a lot of big fish I couldn't interest them in anything I had. I'm lucky enough to be going back this week and am hoping someone can enlighten me.

Any suggestions for me on how to boat some of these fish? Any help will be appreciated.

If you are fly fishing.. I would go with a Royal coachmen or a big nymph,For sinking line a wooly bugger

Try a midge pattern suspended below a striker indicator. The fish are keying on the large midges at Crane since the damselfly, dragonfly and leach populations have crashed because of the introduced fish. Size 10 and 12 red, green, or black midges still fished are taking fish.

Try a #8 green woolybugger with some green tinsel in the tail, if the midges aren't producing.

double up on choronomids. About 18" apart fish them under an indicator. Put the bottom one 12" off the bottom...watch for a VERY subtle "wiggle" of the indicator. Find the channels, fish within them. Move every half hour to hour. Wear plenty of sunscreen.
