All things being equal, if you were get a USED 6hp SS 2-stroke motor and had the choice of a Suzuki or Johnson, what one would you get? Both are within a year apart in age(1986), both were well matained and in great shape, and both cost basically the same (give or take $10.00).
What one will have better realiability and is cheaper to matain/serviced?
What are the pro's and cons of each?
Thanks a bunch!

Both are reputable brands, and one could have the Ford-vs-Chevy debate all day long. I would check compression and gear oil condition. If it is a tossup, have your wife pick the prettiest one.

For what it is worth I am a bit partial to Johnson. Have both 4 HP and 15 HP 2 stroke Johnsons. They are easy to work on, parts are available, and they run forever. That said, I have no experience with Suzuki.
Good luck

Thanks for the responses gang! I ended up buying the Johnson as the Suzi was not firing up very well. I think I will be happy with this motor! I already brought it into Oregon City Marine to have them look it over. You can see details (and provide feedback) on another thread I started. Thanks to all how helpend me out and gave their input.
