I have a SS impellor on my jet and have been recently using it in the salt. Was checking it out tonight and noticed it appeared to have some rust on it. I thought stainless steel wasn't supposed to rust. Nowhere else on my boat are the stailess steel components showing in sign of corrosion.

I flush my motor after every use. Is this normal or is my SS impellor not really stainless.

Sure its stainless , but there are various grades . Some have the tendency to rust a little, also you have to think about how much water at what speed is passing by it . Moving water and metal= Electrolosis... :wave:Barney

The 300 series stainless will not rust. The 400 series will rust. Not sure why it is called stainless. Some engineer in the old days made that desicion

It is stain less, not stain free. Won't be affected to any degree for many many years.
