Looking to upgrade my 18' Alumaweld flat bottom to a 20' or so and I keep hearing people talk about the Smoker Craft Boats. Does anyone know much about these boats??

I own two Smoker Crafts. A Alaskan 15 SS and a 12 foot car top model. I like the hull design on both and nether leak and seem to be indestructable. They are extremely popular here in the North West. They are a good mid market boat for the money. Are they the best? No probley not. I know they work well for me. I had the oportunity to fish out of a Lund in June and did not like the handling as well as my Alaskan. Best of luck to you in your search.

Thanks for info, my current boat has short sides and not really good in big rough water, looking for a better boat for Columbia fishing and Crabing boat that will still fish well on Clackamas and Willamette. Is the alum pretty sturdy and thick?

I had a 20' smoker for a year and a half. It was a good boat and ran great. Very wide and stable. The problems that I had: Poor welds that broke when the boat flexed. Never a hull weld, but support welds. They use screws to hold down the deck. Whenever I ran in windchop the screws would pop come loose. After a while they would not even tighten up and I had to put in bigger screws to hold the deck down. No fishbox.

I had a 15.5' Pro-Alaskan (deep-v, 6' beam, starboard console) fitted with a 40hp for several year. Great little boat, tooks lots of abuse and never had a problem or bad rivet. I miss that boat:(

I had a 1995 Sylvan Yukon That i bought new and jst got rid of it. (same as a Smokercraft).

The boat required nothing and was bulletproof. No regrets.

My buddy has one of the new flatbottoms for a duck boat with a 50 merc 4 Stroke.

Nothing but good luck.
