Can anyone give me any advice on where to head for some steelhead action on the Santiam if I were coming from Bend heading towards Salem?

Anywhere downriver from Detroit has Steelhead, hit any of the parks in the upper river. Fishermans Bend campground is famous for its namesake.

fishermans bend probably has the most fishable riverbank of all of the parks... you'll want waders for fly fishing, the bank tends to be brushy

I watched a guy park his driftboat just before the bridge at White Park, and in 10 minutes Fight and lose one steelie, and land another!!! Made me Cry that I only had my 4wit loomis!:berry: That's ok though I pulled a couple 14in. Cutts And bows out of the same tailout. And on my 4wt. it felt like a steelhead!:bigshock:

i like minto the best for flyfishing, the top end has a nice hole that can be fished from the top but is better for the hardware, just rock hop down stream. ive caught alot of fish in there. i like the evening bite the best with anything purple. just my opinion
