Ive got a recently purchased 97 Duckworth with a Suzuki DT140 Two stroke with a pump. I just installed a 2nd battery and 2 Scotty electric DRs. Ive searched all the threads I can. I want to install a Perko or similar battery switch so I can charge the new secondary battery off the main engine. Will my engine put out enough juice without overworking it? Providing I just charge 1 battery at a time? Maybe an elementary question, but Allen Marine in Salem wont offer any advice without breaking out the wallet.:help:
Sure. I'd install an isolator though. What that does for you is automatically stop charging the charged battery and directs the current to the battery that needs the juice. The Perko allows you to cutt all power off which is also good.

hello, yes you can use a automatic charge relay. bluesea #7610 its water proof and ignition protected you will need to install two ANL 250 amp fuses and at least 2 ga cable. i don't recommend isolators as they contain diodes as with all diodes there is a voltage drop through the isolator that is about .7-.9 of a volt and with a deep cycle battery thats just too much.

Thank you both for the info. Now I will research the stuff and get it going. It doesnt appear that it will be too expensive either....
