A couple of us did a quick run down the N Santiam (3-3.5hrs) on toons today, We caught a bunch of little rainbows, smolt, and cutthroat, nothing big, and didnt keep anything. The good news was the smolt are still there after the warm water came over the dam a week or so ago. (OFWD was worried it might have wiped them out I guess) I was using small spoons and a rainbow trout colored hotshot, my buddy had on panther martins. We both caught a combo of over ten each easy.
Might be a bit skinny a few places for a driftboat (but doable) as we scraped along a few times on the toons, all in all it was a fun float for the time limit we had. Some of the holes and looked really good but we didn't have time to really fish them.
