I bent my new t-8 prop. I wasnt gonna bother with it but a stranger on the river saw it and said if I didnt fix it, it would cause the bearing in the lower unit to go out. So is this something I should fix?

Since material is not missing, there should not be a balance problem. I would take it out and see if there is any vibration and plan on getting a spare some day and having that one fixed.

I think I'd bend it back out and call it a day.

:yeahthat: That close to the spline should'nt cause a problem ... Hmmm thats a kinda unusual place to get dinged ... Is there a moral to this story?
I'd be more worried about the damage to the lower unit from that initial impact then anything else. You could get it fixed if it is bothering you.

I wasnt to worried about it, till the stranger said it would cause problems if I ran it. I bent the prop backing the boat into the garage. I stopped just when it hit.

Take it off and bang that boo boo out by hand, or spend 30-40 and have a pro do it right.
Since the material is not in the right spot it will cause vibration, but not enough to worry about.
