I am happy to report I scored on another Springer. Also Very happy to report the new reel I got from Fisherman's the Abu Garcia 5600 C4 did "Reel" well!!! images/icons/wink.gif The River is getting extremely low and I scraped bottom a couple of times and I was the only one in the boat. NO Pressure what so ever, I thought I missed the season. Not another boat in sight. Oh well. I have still been trying to catch Steelhead in that river but yet to no avail. Are there any in there? Any tips? images/icons/confused.gif Thanks,

Thanks for these reports Smily. It sounds like you're dialed into the Springers on the Sandy this year, that's great. Good job, they make better table fare than steelhead anyways (at least in my humble opinion).

I havn't been going out lately, but you bet there are steelhead in there. I generally nail them at first light in the tailouts on shrimp or crawdad tails. With the water so low bobber fishing is likely the way to go. The Sandy is a funny river in that it gets tons of pressure in may, and then the pressure tapers off and the river is practically deserted by July, except for up at Marmot. In the past I fished up until the July fifteenth closure on the middle of the river, and generally had the place all to myself. One year I went out on the last day and nailed a fourteen pound steelie in the Salmon river, then stopped down on the lower Sandy river on the way home for a chrome chinook. Never saw another angler.

By the way, did you get out early to catch your chinook? Where there lots of other fish rolling?
