I try and keep things nice and neat when I bobber fish but I always end up with egg slime baked on my bobber rod. I've tried about everything except an SOS pad. Someone out there must know how to keep the fishing rod looking new. Suggestions??? images/icons/confused.gif

I like to use Mister Muscle oven cleaner. You put a little on and wait a couple minutes then wash it and all the egg slime off. It will all come right off. Be careful not to leave it on to long it will eat the rods if left on to long.

I use oven cleaner to clean boat, motors, and rods and reels...works great but.. will remove boat paint and the rods clear coat. Spray it on let it sit for a few minutes and scrub it with a brush then wash it off. Wear a pair of rubber gloves or your hands might get burnt.
Ever try any of the HoldZit Comfort products? They'll keep your reel and reel seat area clean from the slime of egg goo and is easy to wash.

I also use automatic dish washing soap..make a paste out of it or purchase the liquide type...brush it on...wait ten minutes and wash it off.

Thanks to all of you for the tips!

Let's see now if I've got everything for a successful trip - oven cleaner, WD 40, 20 Mule Team Borax, Mrs Pauls Blueing, dishwasher soap (liquid and powder), silver polish ---- no wonder my wife always yells at me to "Get Out Of There" everytime I look under the kitchen sink.. images/icons/grin.gif images/icons/grin.gif images/icons/grin.gif
