I've heard mention of a clam species on here that I don't recognize. I think they were called "gapers"???? Not sure on that one.
Are they what we know as horse clams up here in WA?
I remember people saying they would get them when going after cockles.
Up here we have this problem with the Eastern Soft shell clam, It says that what ever ones you dig must be kept. I realize if you rebury a clam it will die so always keep all the ones I get other than butter clams which are right on top and have a min. size.
I've got a feeling that they emphasize the keeping of the easterns to knock the population down they'd open them up with no limits or anything rather than making you count them as part of your 40.
