We use lead head jigs with a white, black and white, green or blue metallic tail. A pink or multicolor shrimpfly tied 24" up with give you 2 at a time making a decent fight. Usually fishing the reef 2 -3 miles south of the jetty, about 1 mile out in 40 to 65 feet of water will get you a good mix of fish. Find a good pile of rocks and drift over, bouncing the bottom or a few feet off. The hardest part is finding the shelf, once you are there they are not too picky most days. Geez... I hope we aren't being too optimistic about the silvers! images/icons/wink.gif Good luck.

Try using your burned out salmon mooching rigs. We use a Tillamook mooching rig (splitter, leader and weight on a dropper)with a jig and white worm for the weight. Just put a whole herring on the mooching rig and drop it down. The herring does not have to spin.

This will catch seabass, lings, Cabezon and in the right water even a flattie.

Uses up old salmon gear and subprime herring.

BUGLEMAN2U, Most of the central coast is open for Halibut almost all summer inside 30 fathoms. From Cape Falcon North it is wide open all depths I think to Leadbetter point. That is until they hit Quota or til Sept. Check out the earlier Halibut threads there is a link buried in there for the seasons.
