Just wondering what would be a good bet this weekend at a high elevation lake around Mt. Hood. If I believe what I read in Fishing in Oregon every lake up there holds the state record.
I'd like a recomendation on a good hike in lake. I've seen Timothy and Harriot Lake and they are too accessable. I'd like a little solitude and a little trout action.
Any recomendations?

Try Round Lake. No Bait Allowed. Directions are in "Fishing In Oregon". Easy hike in and out. Nice Browns and Brookies. You can't get to it from the Collawash anymore, look on a map, you will probably have to approach from the Detroit side. Might be a long drive, but worth it. Great fly lake, bring some streamers and fish the creek inlet with size 16 - 18 olive scuds. Twitch them really slow.

Check out the Bull of the Woods. All the lakes you could ever want to hike to near Ollalie lake. Awesome country. Solitude if you hike far enough. Fly fishing or just peel a crawdad and plunk it. This is the headwaters of the Clackamas and there are Brook, Rainbow and a few Cutthroats to be found. Check out your book.

I'll be at Timothy Lake with a dozen Boy Scouts - - - solitude will not be available!

Try Laurance Lake also.. The road was closed last year for construction and there will be some real nice trout in there this year.

Oh yeah, I second the Laurence Lake suggestion. Not a hike in, but the lake is big enough that you can get away from the crowds if you have a tube. NO BAIT.

Holly smokes. I have someone that agreed with me. I have to print this off to show the wife so she will leave me alone about not knowing were to go..
Float tubes work great in there until the wind picks up.. Small raft with electric motor will work also. No gas power motors allowed.

I'll keep your suggestions in mind guys, but my plans for this weekend have changed. I forgot that my aniversery is in the middle of next week and I wanted to attend the cleanup on the Tillamook rivers thats going on on the 10th.
My wife would kill me if I went fishing two weekends in a row around my aniversery images/icons/shocked.gif so it looks like I'm out of luck this weekend. On the other hand I probably will get lucky images/icons/cool.gif .
