Anyone care to share. I wouldn't mind picking up some Lings and Bass after limiting out at the CR bouy. All that gas and time spent for 1/2 hour of fishing just doesn't seem to be enough. We could call it a trip extender. (If I could only get dad to not keep the first 4-6 we might even get to fish for 1 hour images/icons/smile.gif ) The 22.5' Sea Ray can get to any reef or rock pile you want to discribe or email. Extra credit for GPS. images/icons/wink.gif

I do know that outside the North Jetty can be good but also risky since that is where most of the weather blows from, right into the rocks.

I will share. If you go out side, drop a crab trap around the South Jetty. Last year we set three pots and in 1-1/2 hours of fishing, after we limited out on coho, we pulled them in and I could barely get them over the gunnel. We had 3 people and had to throw some back. That is about 45 keepers in one set. images/icons/shocked.gif

Puffin has been poring over charts trying to figure this out too. There is some serious structure (200 to 800ft) on the verge of the Astoria Canyon leading down to the Abyss. And I mean Abyss 3000 ft +. All kinds of bumps and cracks in the bottom too. I'll go over to his place and check out the chart. Any #'s I give will be plotted and not shot on site, so approximate #'s only. You could go to the Maptech site and download some charts. Look for any hill on the bottom in a flat area and you're in.

Anyone else?

I used to fish just south of the South Jetty till I beached my boat on a huge rock there. Nice lings there and a few blackies. The place just gives me the creeps now.

The tip of the south jetty is a good place to bottomfish on a slack tide. You can sometimes really kick *** . WARNING, WARNING, WARNING! This is also a bad spot, as Pilar will attest, and I have had some special moments there also. Bottomfish love structure, so thats why jettys are so great. However, the greatest danger also lays next to the rocks.

Be Careful, Rich
