I want to start doing some bank fishing for sturgeon and I was wondering if you guys could help me out with picking a good rod and reel for it. I dont really want a big rod like one thats like 12+ feet something like 10 or 11 feet long would be nice. And a reel that is left handed. Any advice will be helpful thanks.

Brother fishon,

The reel you want to get your oolichan smelling hands on is a penn 321(the 320 is the R handed version). The reel holds a ton of line and is relatively cheap, I paid $125cdn, which, the last time I checked, is about $14 in American funds!

I have no good suggestions as far as a rod...i do my fishing from a boat so I use a shorter rod, an 8ft Quantum Big Cat. Sturge Rock!
