I recently installed a Tournament Master fishfinder in my 21'jet boat. Still having some problems adjusting the transom mount transducer so it will read depth at high speed. This was the whole reason I tossed out the humming bird. Does anyone have a in hull (not thru hull) transducer and if so does it work well? Anyone with a Bottom Line fish finder that has installed the in hull transducer? Does a in hull transducer work with an aluminum hull? Thanks for any help here. I have done just about everything you need to do as far as adjustments are concerend.

I have used a bottom line tournement master for the last two year without any problems. Do you have it near any sources of turbulence such as lifting strakes, chines kicker motor, I had mine mounted level with the water line about 1/16 inch below the bottom of the boat level in both directions. and it worked great at speeds up to 50+ mph
good luck

If your transducer is a transom mount there are a couple of things to look for. make sure that the face is parallel with the waterline. go to Furuno website Transducers help (http://www.furuno.com/support/xducers.html) this helps a good bit. Other things to look at are is it next to a lifting strake that could create turbulence while on plane. try cleaning your transducer face and leave a very light film of dish detergent on the face, to provide a better interface with the water.
Hope that helps

I had the same problems with 2 different Bottomlines on three different boats. I finally got the last one to work somewhat by watching the spray off the transducer. Make sure that it is pointed exactly forward into the water stream. It worked better, but would still ocassionally lose the bottom, especially in heavy current areas.
Thats why I switched to Lowrance, problems gone.
Good Luck

Thanks for your guys help! I had to order a 10ft extension for the transducer cable. I have more room on the opposite side of the transom to move the transducer around and they just didn't put enough cable to reach to the other side. I think that might help me too! Thanks again!
