I found out this evening that there are both Wind River and Kalama River cleanup projects going on the same Saturday June 16th. I'm hoping knowledge of that might bring more river cleanup fishermen out that day so as to get enough to cover both rivers. ....

Joe (Superfly - Wind R.) and Kalamabama Dan and Rvrtramp (Kalama R.) have spearheaded these cleanups. It's appreciated by all guys! It would be great to have some sort of volunteer committee pick out Oregon and Washington rivers that are in particular need of cleanup and organize days for those rivers on a periodic basis. As Dan posted on P.P., these efforts get the attention of anglers that are out in big numbers on Saturdays and sets a good exaxmple in addition to the important cleaning. They fish early and then meet together for the cleanup. The Kalama crew is meeting at Pritchards tackle shop up the Kalama at 10:30 am, after morning fishing. The Wind crew is meeting early starting at the 7 mile post to enter the canyon with garbage bags to haul the trash out, after a little fishing first. Both crews mentioned the idea of bringing a BBQ to Q up some fish. Or hot dogs if only WA fishers show up. images/icons/grin.gif . Good projects can be fun too!
