TOM'S HAS A GREAT REPUTATION FOR THEIR WORK, BUT WHAT DO YOU FOLKS THINK ABOUT RE-BUILT MOTORS. ANY EXPERIENCES??
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR OPINIONS.

Tom's a good guy, so if you do buy one, that's probably a good place. We had a rebuilt on a boat when I was a kid, ran fine.

Baja...I once ordered a part from Tom's..couldn't get through the phone lines...so I drove there since it was pretty close. I ******* him out for not answering the phone...and he told me..."If you want to get through...let the phone ring once....then call back....." Not My idea of how to run a business....but he's still in business..so go figure!!! images/icons/wink.gif

Had my black Max 150 jet rebuilt by Tom this spring. Took a long time. Needed a new power head. Same thing on the phones though. Ring, ring and ring. Left messages and not a return call until I drove out to see him. He is an extremely busy fellow and a good guy but it is no way to run a business. Tom if you read this just return your phone calls! No body likes to be untentionally ignored.
Anyway, mostly happy with the build job but the motor still runs a little rough. Could be the high mix rate for break in period. I will give him the benefit of the doubt until.... But he is a good guy.

Unless you have a mid season prob...best time to take it to Tom is winter. He offers lower rates for work and is less busy.
After winter you are in line for work and will wait....but good work!
He did some work on my 9.9 in Febuary and it runs better than new!

Tom has done work for me for 20 years or so and he does get swamped at times but he is the best around in my opinion.
