Anyone been into the lake? I heard there was quite a bit of snow in Government Camp over the weekend but it melted off. I haven't check, but did they open the road in before memorial day. I am planning on taking a group of cub scouts up there for free fishing day Saturday.

One friggin' cold lake. I rolled a canoe in that lake a few years ago. Be careful if your scouts are out on that lake. Come to think of it, I have fallen out of every canoe I've ever been in, so maybe it was just me.

I did the Boy Scout thing there last year - we fished along the dam, throw bobbers & bait. Pautzke's were the most consistent, worms good, "power bait" worked ...
Of course it was double-stocked the week before, the truck couldn't get in to Frog Lake so headed over to Trillium images/icons/smile.gif

This is my favorite lake on Mt. Hood, I've fished it for a few years now and seem to do faily well on holdovers. I use my DB and put in at the day use ramp, row up to the dam end and let the wind push me across the lake. While drifting, throw 1/8th oz. chartruse rooster tails. We caught some very repectable fish there last season with this method. We will also troll with swivel, one split shot, 3-4 feet of 3lb leader with either pautzke's (use two, don't know why but has to be two), chartruse sparkle power bait or small piece of worm....this setup god for stockers.
