If the Kokes are small in Wickiup, slip up to Odell, they are of decent size this year. Buzz bombs and small Cripple Herring 2-3" at about 30' or wedding rings retied on 4# test and 4' long..tipped with shoepeg corn or a bright ball's o'fire...the lighter line entices more strikes...Have a great Trip.

word is the fish are bigger than last year - ditto on Odell, though. It was very good 2 weeks ago, average fish a fat 12". Have fun!

Thanks for the information Phish. I will most definitely will have a great time fishing and hope the catching will be as good. Last year we were at Wickiup a entire day and half before we zero'd in on the kokes. That was thanks to my 13 and 15 year old sons who spent a lot of time at cleaning station observing and asking quetions. I will let everyone know the results when we return on Monday or maybe Tuesday the 19th.

I am setting next week for my annual family Kokanee fishing trip at Wickiup. I was wondering if anyone has been there in the last week or so and how fishing is shaping up? Last year when we went I was told fishing was slow and the fish were small. I found that information to be flawed other than the fish were a bit smaller from the past years. I usally bait fish for the kokes using ultralight gear. Any info would be most appreciated.....

I missed my annual trip with the guys at Wickiup, but did just get the report. Apparently Wickiup is not in good shape with real low water. A couple of the boats pulled by moterhomes couldn't put in, because of the motorhome and boat ramp. The guys with trucks had no problem. They pulled off when the wind kicked up high and moved to Lava lake. Fished Lava for two days and limited on very nice rainbows. Did good in the afternoon/evening on South Twin also. The goto lure on Lava was trolling any Dick Nite or FST but, my dad caught all his jiggin' with a Buzzbomb. I know on South Twin the FST and Thomas Lure were the ticket.

Two weeks ago Mann Lake produced some nice fish. I think we will be going back in the fall. Does anyone know what shape the fish are in then?

Good luck Fishtail!

Thanks JJIGGIN,

Just got off the phone with South Twin Lakes Resort. They advised the water is dropping about 3-4 inches a day and it is close to what the water levels were last year. Apparently, the kokes are being picked up in about 20' of water around the island and up Davis Creek arm images/icons/grin.gif I will plan on putting my secret weapons to use when we arrive on Thursday.

FRG, If you goto the Trout section they look like little fish stamped out of thin metal. If you goto the Salmon section they look like a wobler. They don't make the wobler style anymore( or I can't find them) in the small sizes for Kokanee and Trout, but the limited supply I have on hand should last me a couple more years. I wish someone would start making a replacement. Too bad.
