Hey I was just wondering what works best weight wise if you are in a snaggy area, and you keep getting snagged up we were using a worm and Split shots and or Eggs Sinkers and we were getting snagged like crazy I mean we would get fish if we were not snagged... Any tips on what kind of weight does good in that i was thinking more like a Steelhead drift set up but I don't know. Like Pencil Lead and Slinky

If there's no current just a strait gob of nightcrawlers- no weight. I can't believe I actually said that! he he. It's been YEARS since I had to resort to worms, but were all at our certain level so have fun!:D

i dont know where i saw them or if they are even around but i did see some hoks for bass fishing heavy cover that had a weight attached to the hok and somehow you slid the jig/plastic bait over it. look around, maybe you will find it?!

try a corky above your hook, big enough to float the worm.
you can also try a sliding float/bobber set up.
bass will bite your bait, regardless of the presentation you use. while not as dumb as a steelhead, a bass will simply not refuse a wiggling nightcrawler

Fishing with topwater lures like floating rapalas or poppers can generate some vicious strikes and keep you above the snags. Make sure you use heavy enough gear to hold them out of it after you hook them. A lot of bass tackle is made for fishing snaggy, weedy places, so don't be afraid to try some different things... So, I finally know Daves go-to bait. Maybe I should look in the background of his pics of huge bass for styrofoam worm boxes:D

Those are called Slider Hooks and are available at Joes...expenisive IMO.
Steelhead21, I fish lizards and tubes carolina style like your describing. Yes, if it's snaggy your gonna loose gear...just keep it simple like your doing and accept it. However like Dave pointed out, perhaps you could drop down in weight size. I've been known to cut slip sinkers in half to reduce weight. I've also started to use more & more hollow pencil lead as slip sinkers and simply cut to desired size. Pencil lead is supper cheap as a tiny splitshot will keep it place.
A worm hook and plastics might also reduce the snagging.
Let us know what works for ya.
