I'm so dpressed- my motor just won't start and all the mechanics will look at it in 3 weeks- right during what was our ONE chance of the year to go camping- the one time each year that my wife and daughter actually benefit from the family boat. My wife has been working super hard and finally has some time off- how do I tell her that the motor doesn't run??!! I put in one lake and it ran fine, pickep and went to another lake and it won't start?? It cranks OK, just won't fire- checked the kill switch and gas, but don't have a clue. Any ideas? Help! Dave

Have you checked to see if you have spark?

Is gas actually getting to the motor?

These would help in troubleshooting your problem.

new fuel with fuel filter and spark plugs work wonders sometimes

Dave, my buddies boat wouldnt fire at tenmile one morning and an off duty mechanic told us to look for a fuse. We found it near the battery; it was more of a relay, really. Reset it and off we did go. That fellow sure saved our day. Hope you have similar luck.

I'll check for that, DJD, thanks! Would it crank if it was a fuse? I guess it still could....right now, it will crank but just not fire- not even close???!!

Dave is that a mercury? I recall another day when we used the cell phone on the water and a tech at nixons marine talked us through our problem. Those guys are awesome! You could also ask the boat doc on the other forum. Im thinking loose wire or fuse, possible ignition switch. Good Luck Dan

Dave,
Would you trust me enough to bring it by and leave for a couple evenings?
You can borrow The Crestliner and bowmount if worst comes to worst.
Just don't want to see ya cancel a family trip.

You might pull out a plug and crank it over and see if you are getting spark. Could be a coil :shrug:went bad. Hopefully you get it going. If your getting fuel it sounds like plugs, coil, switch box or kill switch problem maybe.
