To represent the bait chunkers here.
1 live wiggling worm, I never leave home without them.
I have caught everything from the the bluegill, LMB, SMB, crappie, walleye, and even a 40" muskie on just a single live worm fished under a red & white bobber.

1/4 ounce Tried N True or Pepper Jig in any really neutral, mucky color, doused in any gross-smelling spooge on 20 lb. P-line. I have a ton of confidence in this set-up and can swim it or pitch it, whatever! I feel pretty good about my chances with a swimbait in alot of situations, too. Dave

For largies a 4" wave worms tiki stick in either black and blue or watermelon seed, depending on water clarity. For smallies the same bait split shot in gold dust, or similar colors on a dropshot. For largies 10-16lb Gamma Flourocarbon in most situations, and for smallies 6-8lb test.

If I happened upon a LMB or SMB just sitting there, I would throw a 4-1/2 inch Roboworm in oxblood with a #2 or #1 EWG hook. It almost always gets picked up. Otherwise, a 4" Senko knockoff in green pumpkin for SMB, or a Zoom Baby Brush Hog in pumpkin for LMB (both with a 1/0 EWG).

This guy knows his fish- those are also about as good as it gets IMHO

LOL... I used to live on Smith Lake in Warrenton. The guys there taught me to fish with these expensive lures, but I didn't have the money to use those, as they got lost so often.

So, I'd go down with a bobber and worm, and ... I caught a 5 1/2 pound bass on that! :)

So, I'd have to say a bobber and worm!

I fish the lower willy by oc very effectivly with a live worm(bigger the better) hooked neatly in the center. 3 ft of lighter leader and a swivel no weight cast on a ultralight spining gear from the bank. I like this set up cause you never know what your going to get. bass, cat-fish,sturgon,carp, crappi and steel head any of which is fun on the ultra light caught while waking the dog..

5" purple senko seems to work just about anywhere for me, even when nothing else will. I really think confidence in you bait has a lot to do with it, though.

Don't fish LM very much. So I'll talk about SM...
It's hard for me to pick a favorite goto bait, it just depends on the time of year and what pattern I'm expecting to produce. But if I had to pick bait to use for th eday regarless of time of year, I'd have to say it'd be a tube bait. They can be fished topwater with no weight or w/ foam insert. They can be jigged in the spring texas style or better yet w/ internal weight. But I'd have to say my favorite summertime method for tubes is carolina style, only I use a slip sinker and a small splitshot 1ft up.

But please don't make me give up my 3" senko's in smoke/red flake or my black roostertails (saftey pin style)....or my lizards & baby brush hogs.
