Hi all,
Some friends and I would like to float the Umpqua near the Elkton area. We are looking for an easy float as we are using Canoes, Float tubes, and a pontoon boat. (I swear we are not the Eugene Hillbillies relocating:))

I floated from Yellow Creek down to a large rapid last year. We had to portage around the rapid...although some did go through on a tube, and their was a takeout shortly thereafter. If some one knows the name of that T/O or grid cords, it would be greatly apprecited so I know where to leave a vehicle.

If you know of a better float in the area in the 5-6 hour range, it would be greatly appreciated. I talked up the SM fishing on the Umpqua to my brother who took leave from Afghanistan last year and we hit it too early...I would like to redeem myself and the river this year!

Thanks in advance,
Christian

EDIT: Has anyone floated downriver below the rocks by the school. It looks pretty mellow through there

Below the RV park there is a big curling rapid you have to pull around but after that it is about 10 miles + to Sawyers rapids ramp. Lots of good fishing in that stretch but make sure you have a motor. It is a long haul :yay:
