All,
Buddy and I are canoeing the Yamhill from McMinnville to Lafayette Friday. Both of us are decent bass fishermen, but I haven't fished this river yet. Can anyone please provide any insights and/or experiences?
Thanks,
Piscatus
Boat ramp is closed, With Flood damage & float. You will have to Carry Gear & Canoe to river.
River from that point is slow moving, about 2 miles down river is a River dam ( based on last years Canoe trip). But in the history past you should be able to sneak through it with Canoe. Just Recon it before shooting the slot, for sweepers.
Once past that, the river gets slower & deeper. for about a mile roughly. Few stumps have to wiggle through ( last years trip).
for Bass, last year was not a good year for fishing.
Other then that its a nice slow float & paddling.

Thanks, Chug - will recon and watch for sweepers for sure. Even if the catching is poor, goal is to have a great time fishing. = )

Quick Trip Report:
Buddy and I caught only a few small Large and Small Mouth Bass - At the take out we came accross a guy who had 3 good size smallies, one at 18" long and at LEAST 2.5 lbs if not 3. Biggest smallie I've ever seen in person.
Which goes to show if you know what you are doing, the fish are there.
