Finally used all my air miles for a much-needed vacation to Mexico in mid-June.
If any of you world traveling ifishers have experience hiring a boat out of Puerto Vallarta for a family fishing trip (me, wife and two boys), I would sincerely appreciate your advice and suggestions. Looking for a half-day adventure..love to get into some Dorado!
Thanks in advance. Do the Chinook down there wear sombreros? images/icons/grin.gif

I know everything you need to know, but I require you to take me and the kids with you, in trade for the info.

Ouch! I thought hi-jacking was illegal even in Mexico? I feel a bit like the sundance kid just before running out of the house at the end of the film.
And considering I posted a non-confrontational question (assuming we don't talk about dolphin kills in tuna nets), I'm a NW Steelheader and I respect landowners property rights!!
I値l bet Scott at Hot Tamale knows about salmon and sombreros?
That said, could you wait 5 more years till my mileage account gets filled? Then I値l ask my wife for a green light. What we値l do for a fish! images/icons/smile.gif

The problem with a half day trip in Puerto Vallarta is that it is a fairly long run to the fishing grounds. Best bet there is to hook up with a Panga with twin-engines (say twin 50s). They are cheaper than the big boats and are a lot faster. Should be some on the internet. If the roosterfish are hitting, the run is closer and that kind of fishing (just outside the surf) is especially good in PV.

My wife and I was down there last feb.you've got to take the pirate ship out its a ton of fun.I can't remember the name of the ship but its a exact replica of columbis's ship. Its an evening trip you get back after dark you get fireworks on your way back in ,this was the funnest time we had down there. After you pay for the trip, and when you board the ship or while waiting to board they start serving drinks(Good Drinks) and there free all you want even on board.the dinner and entertainment is great and they make the women raise the sails. You'll find yourself danceing and laughing all the time it was a lot of fun.and its not expensive at all !!!its really not.Have a good time,We'er going again next year.

I think you'd be better served posting this question on a saltwater bulletin board. I've recently started visiting www.sport-fish-info.com/dcforum (http://www.sport-fish-info.com/dcforum) and there must be 15-20 boards segmented by geography and specialization. I'm particularly impressed with the saltwater tackle board -- several captains and lure makers post regularly. I think you'll get plenty of tips.
I know of one boat in PV, "Damofino II" a 23' Mako center console w/ twin 90 HP Hondas. T: 3-224-0773; M: (0)44-3-294-1003. I've not fished from it, but know the owner and he'll have a first class set-up. However, he's guiding up north right now so I presume one of his relatives or employees is handling the charters so I can't vouch for what you'll find in the summer.
