I've read this board for a long time, but never registered to post until I saw this thread. It's a good feeling when you see that people appreciate and respect the military for what they do and the sacrifices they make to stand up and protect the Stars and Stripes. To all who served before me, I thank you. To those who serve with me, I respect you. To those who will serve after me, I support you.

I personally was never in the military nor has anyone else in my family as far as I can remember, I guess my grandfather was a merchant marine if that counts. I do have some very close friends that have served though. What I'm trying to say is, even though I have never been there I do respect my rights to freedom and for that I salute all of you who have contributed to me being able to have those rights. There is no grater sacrifice then that of a man or women who is willing to give their life for our rights. So for that, not only just this one day on May 28 but for all others I say thank you to our vets, salute.

A special weekend to remember those who have served their country. A hearty thank you to all who served to preserve our great nation. I was not in the military but my brother served in the USN for 25 years.

I respect those who served before me, with me, and after me; and I have the highest respect for those who served and never came home.

Yes, I'm glad to be an American.

The same comes from myself also,my dad is a Pearl Harbour vet,I was Air force from 61-65,my son was in the army in saudi(kuwait) during that mess over there.War is absoulte hell and the most horrifying place a person could be or have to see.I have nothing but respect and admiration for those who served and are serving now and nothing but thanks and love for those who died serving their country.God Bless them all !!!

The ranks of WWII veterans is thinning daily. Please make it a point to listen to their stories, and thank them for what they did while they are still here to hear it. My restaurant is near a retirement community, and we get a lot of WWII vets in on a regular basis. We've lost 6 so far this year, including one who was in WWII, Korea (where he was a POW), and Vietnam, and one who was on the beach at Normandy. They won't be here for forever, so thank them now.

So all you Navy guys, does the fact that I was in the Army explain why I'm always in waders when I'm on the river as all those boats go by? Perhaps I joined the wrong service...
