You lucky dog! I've only been razor clamming twice, and thanks to another member of this board I was able to catch some clams....BUT, I never saw anything like that!Maybe someday I'll stumble across a bunch like that. images/icons/smile.gif

Not sure if you are serious.....those are the show........all those millions of holes..
it is really nice to hear that they lowered that limit....
Washington had a one day open yesterday and we totally missed it. They are worth the work....

If all those holes hold clams the size of what you showed a pic the other day. WOW!!!!! images/icons/shocked.gif
I don't like eating clams unless it's in chowder. But for some reason I love to dig for them. Never have figured that one out. Luckily my mother loves to eat clams, so that gives me an excuse to get out there and dig. images/icons/grin.gif

Yeah, I was kidding. I've seen clam shows, but never a show like this!

Jennie, I understand that you are going to Clam Gulch soon! Last year when we were clamming there, just down the road from where you are staying, we saw "shows" like that. I have video where three of us were "pulling" our last days limit with our hands! There is a good tide for Razors this weekend, I better check the hotline.

Has anyone heard if its ok to dig?

"Clam harvesting closed from Newport to Waldport due to elevated domoic acid. Shellfish harvesting remains closed on Clatsop Co. beaches from Astoria to Arch Cape" http://www.oda.state.or.us

I too have a hankerin' for razor's. dang!

Waterdog, Thanks for the link. I still would like to hit the tide. I hava an old map of the Oregon bays showing a sand bar in Netarts that produces Razors. It also shows where to dig Gapers in Tillamook bay. I wonder how accurate it would be today? Maybe tomarrow I'll find out. Looks like low tide about 9:50.

I can't wait to get my "BT Punch"...

jjiggin - I have never found razors in netarts but have never looked. Did find a goey duck (sp) once in netarts though. Longest neck on a clam I have ever found.

I have found razors behind the south jetty at Garibaldi. Long walk to get to them and it needs to be a real low tide and you are digging in the water. images/icons/frown.gif

Made it to netarts today along with 4,589 other folks. Took longer to walk to our secret clamming spot images/icons/rolleyes.gif than it did to rake the cockles.

Rich - Walking to the clams ?? images/icons/confused.gif What are you afraid the candy shell on the new MM is going to melt if you get it wet images/icons/wink.gif images/icons/grin.gif

You need to take the boat and dig Cohogs, easier cleaning, and better eating.

Any one besides me, get the Idea that the Game Commission and Dept. are in cahoots???
If you can't justify a limit reduction or limit the number of clam diggers, just declare a demolic alert... and wonders of wonders you have saved the razors for another tide...this tide was -2.+ in Waldport
would have been a slaughter....going to dig out my scuba gear and to heck with tides...when they neck their easy to catch...

That is a great picture!!! Only in Alaska have I seen it like that...although...4 years ago I did dig my limit without standing up ( I like digging with a shovel )

With a show like that one would be tempted to just start digging...would that be like shooting into the flock of ducks without picking one out...nothing falls...is the same true for clams...would / could you end up with nothing?? All of my kids have dug razors by just starting to dig...it was their way when they were little!
