I have a friend that will be camping at Nehalem Bay this weekend and he asked if I know were he might be able to throw some crab rings in from shore/dock area. He was also wondering how the crabbings been in general. I told him I wasn't sure but I knew some good folks I could get a good report from, so how about it. Any help would be much appreciated........thanks.

Not sure of any spots to crab from the shore but the last crabbing thread I read was that there were a lot of soft-shells right now. He could rent a boat at the Wheeler Marina and crab pots too. Hey bud when we going fishing? images/icons/wink.gif

you can go over to Brighton Marina and crab off of their dock. They charge a small fee but i see them catch a lot of crabs. I beleave the phone # is 503 368 5725. Someone on the board said that there is a place over by the park boat ramp that people crab at but iam not sure where it is at. images/icons/smile.gif

There is dock crabbing available from both the Brighton Marina and the Jetty Fishery. It is possible to rent rings with bait attached at both areas. If you have your own rings I am sure you will still have a dock fee of around the same ammount anyway. both places offer boats as well. I believe Jetty Fishery is something like $50.00 / 2 hours for a boat and two baited rings. Crab the tides! 1-2 hours before and 1-2 hours after the slack tide changes. Unless it's a real low tide exchange, don't even waste your time when it's running. Crabbed there last weekend and came accross quite a few soft ones. Threw back about six softies, (not worth killing them) and kept about 7 nice ones. Sorry about being long winded, if you have other questions just ask.
