I'm going down with some buddies to camp/fish out of Quinn River CG.
We'll have a couple of boats, trolling gear, bait, fly rods, and a reasonable amount of experience. Anyone been that way lately with any advice on best techniques, places to fish etc.????
Any info is appreciated, it's my first trip there. I did read the Crane report thread from a few weeks ago.
Thanks

The best techniques for Crane these days that I know of are early morning browns at Wickiup and midday macks at Cultus.:jester:

Last year when I was there, Corn yellow powerbait was the hot ticket.

Good luck......

Had a nice weekend. Picked up 2 decent fish 12-13 inches and fat, plus one smaller, missed a few.. Not red hot but not too bad. We did see some guy put on a clinic.

Crane prarie is one of my favorite lakes Ive pulled a 12lb trout and a 6 pound trout there in my days but i here the fishing is in decline. Im going to head up there and find out for myself but as soon as I receive my boat motor. Was it crowded up there? How was the weather? Thanks for the report

Weather was classic Crane. 90 one day, 50 windy and cold the next. Not crowded at all. Nights were very cold, 30's. Fish caught on helgamite(sp?)
fished under a slip bobber off rocky point. Lost a few trolling a rapala and power bait(gulp corn actually) Good luck
