i signed up for the t.v. chapter steelheaders fish-a-long this last weekend held at clackamette park. i was pretty aprehensive about volunteering my boat and acting as some sort of guide for this affair because its been a while since i have actually touched anything bearing scales. i had read on ifish that there were some "nooks" to be had and if all else failed, we could fish for shadzilla (which is something that i have wanted to try, ever since my neighbor dumped a cooler full of them out of his boat onto his driveway a few years back). i had never fished there before and i wanted to stay out of everyones way, so i threw the anchor out in an area where i was far away from the nearest boat. i fished for "nooks" for mabey a half hour, but i wanted to get some crab and sturge bait so using the info i had gleaned from ifish i rigged my 2 ft dropper and my 4 ft leader with a gold and red "lucky nite" lure. within 5 minutes had my first shad. wow!! what fun!! it was nice to go fishing and actually bring fish home. after about an hour another boat anchored in next to me...then another ...and another.....and so on. when i left there were 6 or 7 boats there and i learned alot from watching them.
we headed back to the launch with 26 of the silvery buggers. thanks ifishers for sharing, were it not for you i would probabally have a boat for sale.

its not the catchin...its the fishin!!!!
