I'm camping at Nehalem bay this weekend and wanted to know if there is any fishing I can do around there. The wife and all four kids are going with me. I've crabbed the bay before ,but I will not have my boat with me.

Any ideas. Thanks in advance.

You might try catching some perch by Brighton Marina. Right as you turn into the marina, you will see an open area to your right. Go out and fish near the pilings. Have caught quite a few down there. Have had the best luck on the incoming tide. A piece of sand shrimp on a two foot leader with a #6 hook works pretty well. Good luck.

Soak a shrimp for a sturgeon.

If you are camping at the state park, head toward the boat ramp and you will see a bike trail leading off to your left. Follow that trail down to the bank of the bay. This is Cronins Point. There should be a big sand bank to your left and the planes are landing over your head. At low tide you can pump shrimp, the kids can play on the sand bank, and just toss out one of those shrimp for a nice nehalem sturgeon. Good luck.
