View Full Version : Losing my left eye

I was so tickled that they were able to help my right eye! I could see after I couldn't see! Remember that I spent almost a year totally blind? That was awful!
But, now my left eye is going and it's going quickly.
Im sorry that I keep asking for prayer. I hope it doesn't appear selfish. I just wish I could receive a miracle and have eyesight for a year or two! GOOD eyesight! I really don't want to lose my license and my freedom that way.
When I get up, it's really blurry in my left eye and I found out that's because the corneal tissue, where it's damaged, swells up at night.
I have to wait a while, before I can drive.
It does go down after a while, but it sure is frustrating in the morning!
There is a chance it's also aggravated by a pain medication I take called Lyrica. It's for nerve damage. So, I haven't told the doc yet, but I'm cutting down on it. Now my legs hurt again and are getting that icky feeling of being poked by sticker bushes all the time. It feels like being stung by a bee.... But, what's better? Eyesight, or pain? You choose! :) I think I'd rather see.
There. Pity party over. :)

Not a pitty party, and not too many prayer requests, remember this is why you created this portion of the forum for those that need the Lords help, and to request the prayers of others. The Lord loves to hear from you and wants to spend time with you each day and prayer is the best way to do that. I will pray for your eyes and legs and ask that He put His healing hands on them. Read Isaiah 40:31, He has a plan for you.

Keeping you in prayer. Your adversities have made you so strong, wise and caring. Take confidence that God will continue to use your losses to a greater benefit for you and those you share your life with.

We can't be cheerful and "up" all the time Jen even if we want to be. You have a full plate with your health challenges and managing ifish. You do one heck of a job coping with both.
Hang in there and always feel free to whine when it gets too much. It helps clean the soul to prepare us to get up and face the challenges we have once again.
God bless you girl!

You will be in our prayers as always Jennie God bless rp
Remember Tevya from "Fiddler on the Roof" okay it was me. remember how he could talk directly......I am on it. Consider it done. I will say your name also at services when the prayer for healing is said on Friday.
In the meantime....." If I was a rich man yidi didi yidy biddy bum, all day long I'd biddy biddy bum, if I was a wealthy man.":meme:
If only I could buy us all good health ...oh how wealthy we would be.

I just can't come up with the words right now, Jennie.
"Our" thoughts have been expressed so eloquently above. Instead of apologizing for asking for prayer, we thank you for including us and for allowing us to be enough a part of your life that we can pray for you and wish you the very best.:pray::pray::pray::pray: Don

Jen, you are such a sweetie.
Choices - Ok that is what I'll call the new bass riff I came up with the last few days - just one transition piece away from a bass lead and great melody section.
I have been blessed with excellent eye sight, my children have inherited that from me as well, eagle eyes both of them. Mom well, without help a mountain is a blur.
Pain is a tolerance, that will eat at you physiologically - you know that you live it everyday.
Call your buddies - come on eyefish chime in here - there has to be something that will not cause the swelling but still yield the pain free result from an ocular perspective. Maybe a diuretic to decrease the swelling? Come on, one of the best eye schools in the country is in Forest Grove.
See ya tomorrow :bearhug:

I know of a Commercial fisherman that used to pray over the radio for a big catch so she could be rich. THAT is petty. Asking for prayers for your eye sight is NOT petty at all. In fact it's exactly the right kind of thing to pray for...

Jennie, I will pray for your eyesight. What a burden you have: the actual losing of sight and the anxiety of knowing ahead of time what may happen. I will pray for the anxiety, also.
As far as the swelling in the corneal tissue, I am no doctor, but elevating your head higher than your heart will cause less blood pressure to your eyes at night. Perhaps a few books under the bed legs at the head of your bed will noticibly help the morning blurriness. (I'm talking 3" here, not enough to roll you out like an avalanche!) :help: Give it a try and I will still pray for your healing and comfort.
Blessings.

Thanks for sharing this request.....you can count of this 'brother' to pray. Don't feel like you are 'burdening us'.....like Bernie says, "We are here for you"...
Dear Lord Jesus, I pray for Jennie right now. Please give her relief from her pain and at the same time keep her eyesight from getting any worse. I pray this :bowdown: in your Holy Name that You alone may receive the glory, Amen.

Miss Jennie,
As much as you dread the prospect of more surgery (not to mention your eye surgeons!) your only hope of salvaging that cornea is to get rid of that anterior chamber lens that's bouncing around and dinging the back side of the cornea.
It is damaging a very special layer called the ENDOTHELIUM that functions to pump excess fluid out of the cornea. If the pumping action fails, the fluid builds up, the cornea swells and it becomes progressively more cloudy.
The ACL needs to be explanted, a new posterior chamber lens needs to implanted and sewn to the sclera (just like in your other eye). The iris defect could either be sutured closed, or a special implant could be placed as an artificial iris. Finally the damaged cornea could undergo a revolutionary new type of corneal transplant called DSEK that is a quantum leap over standard full thickness cornea transplantation... you get to keep your own cornea. It is the procedure of choice for corneal edema resulting from endothelial failure. Turns out a guy in Portland is the world's expert on this new surgery!
Now I'm not saying this is gonna be a bed of roses... just read thru all that stuff I just posted and you KNOW it will be technically very complex. And that would be in a person with an otherwise normal eye... as she can attest, Jennie's Marfanoid eyes are far from "normal"
If you folks want to pray for Jennie... ask that the surgeons would give her case the utmost consideration, that she would be a candidate for all or part of the procedures I just outlined, and that the good Lord guide their minds and hands while these modern surgical marvels are being performed!

P.S. Get back on your regular dosage of Lyrica that keeps your legs pain free... it has no real effect on your cornea one way or the other.
The key to restoring your cornea is a new endothelium.

Wow! I hadn't read this! I feel so blessed by everyone's post and eyefish! Thank you!
Yep.. Dr. Mathers wants to do an endothelial... is that right? Corneal transplant on me. He says that they are much easier to recover from. Is that the right one???
Anyhow, thank you! Wow! What a blessing this thread is. I feel so happy after reading this!
Thank you!

That's the one, Jennie! Best thing to happen in the cornea field in decades!
